To find out the diopter strength of your reading glasses, you need to determine the correction that allows you to read comfortably up close without straining your eyes.

Diopter strength corresponds to the power of the lenses. For reading glasses intended for people with presbyopia, it is generally expressed as a positive number, for example +1,00, +1,50, +2,00 or +3,00.

The higher the number, the greater the magnification and near-vision correction. A diopter strength of +1,00 therefore corresponds to a weaker correction than +3,00.

To choose the right diopter strength, make sure you have good lighting and use our printable diopter test.

Hold the document at your usual reading distance, generally between 30 and 40 cm, then gradually read the different texts. The appropriate correction is the lowest diopter strength with which you can read clearly and comfortably.

You can also find your correction:

• by trying a pair of magnifying reading glasses whose diopter strength you know.
